On December 20, the 2024 Reading Jiangsu Achievement Exhibition for International Students, hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, was held at Nanjing University of the Arts. Nearly 40 representatives of faculty and students from our school were invited to participate. During the event, our school was honored with the Outstanding Organization Award for the Reading Jiangsu initiative, and Kazakhstani international student Baligen was appointed as a representative of the Voice of Jiangsu program.
The event was attended by Jiang Shubing, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education; Hu Zhu, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Government Information Office; Ding Xianzhong, Second-Level Inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Foreign Affairs Office; Yu Xiaonan, Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Higher Education Association’s Research Committee on International Student Education Management; as well as nearly 400 international student representatives from 18 universities across the province.
Jiang Shubing highlighted that this year, nearly 600 international students from 74 universities and 73 countries actively participated in cultural tours across four Jiangsu cities: Huai’an, Zhenjiang, Changzhou, and Yancheng. Centered on themes such as ancient canal towns, rural revitalization, smart manufacturing cities, and green ecology, these students embraced Jiangsu’s rich cultural heritage through the philosophy of reading ten thousand books and traveling ten thousand miles. He encouraged international students to share their experiences of studying and living in Jiangsu with their families and friends, becoming proactive cultural ambassadors to promote Jiangsu’s beauty and share China’s stories with the world.
During the event, our school's international students Baligen and Wang Luosu, along with students from Huaiyin Institute of Technology, Jiangsu University, and Changzhou University, delivered a recital of Jingque (Astonished Magpie), showcasing their talents, eloquence, and well-rounded abilities.
As a key initiative in Jiangsu’s international student education agenda this year, the Reading Jiangsu program has engaged multiple regions and universities with clear themes and innovative approaches. Using outstanding Jiangsu literary works as a medium and the province's unique regional characteristics as focal points, the program integrates extensive reading with experiential journeys across Jiangsu. Reading Jiangsu not only allows international students to present their talents and foster cross-cultural exchanges but also serves as an educational platform for understanding China's national conditions, enhancing their appreciation, comprehension, and integration into Chinese culture, and encouraging them to actively promote Chinese culture on the global stage.
In June 2024, our school successfully hosted the Reading Jiangsu: Exploring Green Ecological Culture in Yancheng event. By seamlessly integrating ecological wetland culture, environmental consciousness, Chinese history, and national education, our school contributed significantly to enhancing the brand influence of Reading Jiangsu and advancing the high-quality development of international student education in Jiangsu.
