On the afternoon of January 11, 2025, the School of International Education held a Winter Break Safety Education Meeting for International Students in the academic lecture hall. The meeting was attended by Dean Wu Jianguo, all faculty and staff, class advisors, and international students. Vice Dean Kong Kai presided over the session.
During the meeting, Dean Wu Jianguo delivered a special lecture on winter break safety education. He provided guidance on vacation arrangements, leave application procedures, dormitory regulations, maintaining a comfortable living environment, and appropriate behavior, encouraging students to plan their holiday time wisely and enjoy the traditional customs of the Chinese New Year. He particularly emphasized the importance of safety during the winter break, covering areas such as property security, traffic safety, food safety, and information security. Through real-life case studies, he analyzed various potential risks and provided practical countermeasures. He especially reminded international students to heighten their self-protection awareness, avoid engaging in unsafe activities, and report any emergencies promptly.
Following the safety lecture, an award ceremony was held to recognize international students who excelled in the university’s 60th-anniversary Student Achievement Showcase. The award recipients expressed their gratitude and pledged to use this honor as motivation to continue their academic efforts, share China's stories, and present a positive image of international students.
Additionally, to ensure the safety of students staying on campus during the break, all on-campus students were required to sign the Winter Break Safety Commitment Letter. This document outlined safety guidelines, emergency contact procedures, and accountability measures, reinforcing students’ sense of responsibility and awareness of self-protection.
After the meeting, a class advisor work session was held to discuss key safety measures for the holiday period. Responsibilities and tasks related to student safety management were clearly outlined. The class advisors committed to strictly following the guidelines to ensure the well-being of students staying on campus, providing necessary support to guarantee a safe and enjoyable winter break.
The successful convening of this meeting not only strengthened international students’ safety awareness but also reinforced the school’s overall safety management efforts. The School of International Education remains committed to the principle of Safety First, Prevention Foremost, continuously enhancing safety education and management to support the well-being and academic success of international students while upholding its vision of a harmonious and excellent educational environment.
